Romantic Boho Proposal in
White Sands National Park
When Amanda reached out to me to help her set up the most epic proposal I was so excited. Not only because White Sands was the location and Molly was the photographer, but also I just cannot get enough of going above and beyond in a marriage proposal.
Amanda already had a plan and very specific instructions in place, but since they were from out of town, she couldn't execute the design and setup on her own. So that's where we came in! I absolutely loved her design but I knew we could execute it to perfection. So I had Amanda send all of the things she's ordered to my home so I could start unboxing and prepping for this special day.
We had such great communication in the weeks leading up to it, and the design was to a t exactly what she wanted (spoiler alert: it wasn't what is pictured below!!!) There were so many details from a heart shaped installation backdrop to floral arrangements and furniture.
The day came around and... White Sands had 40 mph winds. FORTY. And in a place where there are zero structures to obstruct the wind or provide shelter, my team had to make do.
While I was in California running a wedding, my team had to think on their feet FAST to figure out the perfect setup that is still within the style but that won't blow away. I'm serious when I say they were chasing after heavy pillows, chairs, and more that were just being swept away.
In the end, they got it under control. So even though over half of the design couldn't be used, I think the execution, problem solving, and styling was spot on.
Emily said YES! They are just the most beautiful couple and these photos!!! Molly never fails to deliver. The wind was a menace but then during golden hour it was a paid actor if I've ever seen one.
This just goes to show you never know what is going to happen when you're planning something outdoors- especially in White Sands! The dunes are beautiful but that wind is harsh, so be prepared to make some changes on the fly if you're planning a proposal, elopement, or ceremony out here. Check that weather app and have a backup plan.
At the end of the day- White Sands really is the ultimate backdrop for such a special day.
